MIT scientists are changing the future of furniture with self-inflating objects

At MIT, a team of scientists and designers are using a technique that allows objects to self-inflate. They call the project Auto-Inflatables, and researchers say it imbues “a sense of wonder and surprise, as well as new functionalities to the experience of using a product.” The technology used in this project could eventually be useful in medicine, flat-pack furniture, or even space travel.
