Video – Iranians protest over falling currency

Just a few days ago, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad explained to Western media how popular he is in his own country as well as the world. On Oct. 3, Iranian protesters swarmed a main bazaar in Tehran, after the Iranian rial lost a third of its value in less than a week. Residents blamed the government for mismanaging monetary policy and letting the currency plunge so much that food staples like chicken and lamb are now out of reach for low-income families. The currency crisis is also due in part to US-led sanctions, leading some to conclude that sanctioning and not bombing Iran is working.

Moreover, state infrastructure and communications companies were under a cyber attack, an official said, disrupting internet across the country.
