$970,000: that’s the amount donated by London-listed mining conglomerate Vedanta Resources to political parties in India in 2012-13. This is a substantial drop from the $5.69 million it donated in the three years from 2009-10 to 2011-12, a period when the company grappled with bureaucratic delays in an oil and gas acquisition (Cairn India) and an adverse ruling in a bauxite mining project (in Niyamgiri, Odisha).
