South Korea is close to electing first female president

Park Geun-hye has a commanding lead in South Korea’s presidential election. She would be the first female president for the country. If she wins, Park will live in the presidential palace for the second time. “She served as her father’s first lady in the 1970s, after Park’s mother was assassinated by a North Korean-backed gunman,” wrote Reuters. Her father was Park Chung-hee, who ruled the country for 18 years and is credited with transforming the nation after the Korean War.
