If Spain were the size of the US, it would have over 40 million unemployed

If Spain had a labor force the size of the United States, it would have more than three times the number of unemployed people, amounting to 40.7 million (American-sized) Spaniards.

Although Spain has a population and labor force less than one-sixth of United States, the European nation’s 6 million unemployed is half the size of the unemployed population in the US, according to government figures from each nation. Spain reported its unemployment rate was 26.02% in the fourth quarter of 2012.
