Bernie Sanders is already campaigning on his “ya damn emails” debate line

When asked about the supposed scandal surrounding Hillary Clinton’s use of private email while she was US secretary of state, Bernie Sanders delivered his zinger for the night: ”The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!”

Sanders prefaced his remarks by admitting that supporting Clinton “was not great politics”—and as Quartz’s Tim Fernholz noted, his comments were essentially an admission that the Democratic nomination is Clinton’s to win or lose. But his campaign still tried to make hay from the comment, sending out a fundraising email within minutes of the moment.

The campaign should perhaps take cue from some online entrepreneurs who also showed some quick thinking, immediately mocking up “ya damn email” t-shirts for sale.
