Building a wall along the US’s southern border hasn’t always been the Republican solution to undocumented immigration. As you will see in the video above, Ronald Reagan made a compelling case for embracing new arrivals to the country in his debate against George H.W. Bush during the 1980 Republican primary. Reagan was selected as the nominee that year, and went on to be elected president.
