Artists can apply for a residency at the home of the world’s largest particle collider

The home of the world’s largest particle accelerator is inviting artists to Geneva to “reflect upon encounters between art and science.”

The European Organization for Nuclear Research, commonly known as CERN, is offering a three-month residency called the COLLIDE International Award. The winning artist gets a 15,000 Swiss franc ($15,500) cash prize and will be hosted for two months at CERN and one month at the UK’s Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool.

CERN hopes that artists will find ways to collaborate with onsite scientists. The home of the Large Hadron Collider and mecca of particle physics has held artist residencies to promote the intersection of art and science since 2011.

The application is open until May 23 and is open to English-speaking artists of any age or nationality.
