An explosion rattled Shanghai’s main airport today (June 12), injuring four.

A man detonated homemade explosives near a check-in counter at Pudong International Airport’s Terminal 2, then took out a knife and stabbed himself in the throat. Five people were sent to the hospital, according to the BBC, including the culprit, who is in critical condition.

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV tweeted surveillance camera footage of the explosion:

“According to an initial police investigation, a man took self-made explosives in a beer bottle out of his backpack and threw it at the ticketing counter,” government officials said, according to Reuters.

Terminal 2 is the larger of Pudong’s two terminals and hosts many international and local airlines. The explosion did not disrupt flights from the airport.
