Scientists discover electric eels are a lot more powerful than we previously thought

More than 200 years ago, Alexander von Humboldt, an explorer, claimed to have seen electric eels jump out of water and shock two horses to death. Few believed his story.

A scientist at Vanderbilt University tested the myth and found out Humboldt wasn’t imagining things: Electric eels can, in fact, jump from the water to attack their prey, as you can see in the video above.
