Chaos has befallen Boston. The past 18 hours alone: an MIT police officer dead, a bloody shootout that killed one of the two suspects in the marathon bombings; a city lockdown; and an all-out manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the second suspect still at large. (Here’s everything we know about him.)

Several unexploded bombs were found in the aftermath of Monday’s bombing and the Boston Police Department and wary that more devices may exist. As an added precaution, police have been deploying robots (like the one pictured above) to inspect suspicious bags, packages and areas. Police have also used robots to search empty vehicles, and blow up mysterious-looking packages in the past. It may not be long before SWAT robots are protecting police officers, too.
