Video: There’s now a solar umbrella to keep Hajj pilgrims cool and connected

A high-tech umbrella could make the pilgrimage to Mecca much more comfortable. The Saudi-Palestinian company Knowledge-Base is looking for investors for its multipurpose ‘smart umbrella’, which includes a GPS, a fan, and three USB ports.

All of its features are powered by solar energy, which isn’t hard to find in Saudi Arabia’s harsh desert climate. Watch the video above to watch the umbrella in action.
