Muslim American women are tweeting that they’re afraid to leave home in a hijab

After Donald Trump’s victory on Tuesday night, some American Muslims began voicing their fears about what a Trump presidency will mean for them. Since Trump’s call last year to ban Muslims from the US—and his anti-Muslim rhetoric that has followed—hate crimes against Muslims have been steadily increasing.

Now, some Muslim women are scared of going out in public wearing a hijab, or head scarf, in the wake of Trump’s victory.
