Would compulsory voting in the US mean the Democrats won every time?

Democrats are convinced Republicans are playing legal tricks to stop poor people being able to vote. But poor and uneducated voters, who are overwhelmingly Democrats, often do not vote anyway, the Economist’s Lexington’s notebook says. The US may never choose compulsory voting but Democrats can certainly do more to bring supporters to polling stations.
