Gun enthusiasts get $20,000 to release open-source kits for 3D-printed firearms

The Wiki Weapons project builds on a recent first: The first working, 3D printed gun. It’s not the entire weapon that’s printed, just the “receiver,” into which the other parts of a gun are slotted. It’s the only part of the gun that requires a license in the US, and now you can make your own.
