Bill Clinton and James Patterson are writing a book together about a “missing” president

A former US president and one of the US’s most prolific writers are getting together to give the country a thrill.

James Patterson and Bill Clinton have cowritten The President Is Missing, a suspense novel due out June 2018. The book will be published jointly by imprints Alfred A. Knopf and Little, Brown and Company, their parent publishers announced today.

“Working on a book about a sitting President—drawing on what I know about the job, life in the White House, and the way Washington works—has been a lot of fun,” says Clinton in a release. The president in question is a fictional one.

Patterson, one of the country’s top-selling authors, pumps out thrillers, romance novels, and children’s books and has dabbled in self-destructing books and other format ”innovations.” Clinton was president of the US from 1993 to 2001. He recently wore a fetching pantsuit to honor presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The terms of the book deal weren’t disclosed, though they are unlikely to be as astronomical as those rumored for a pair of books by Barack and Michelle Obama, which reportedly netted bids of up to $60 million.
