The 10 most on-time airlines in America

One of the ironies of the Delta Air Lines-CrowdStrike fiasco and its days-long delays is that it marred Delta’s reputation for being a fairly on-time carrier. The Federal Aviation Administration tracks when airlines land their planes, and every year the agency puts together a list of which ones get where they’re supposed to go — on time. Though Delta made the top 10 after leading 2022's ranking, a new name claimed the mantle in 2023.

10. American Airlines

In 2023, 75.9% of American’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 74.9% of its flights did so, which made it the 12th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

9. Southwest Airlines

In 2023, 77.3% of Southwest’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 73.2% of its flights did so, which was good for 13th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

8. United Airlines

In 2023, 78.1% of United’s flights landed on-time. That’s a slight decline from 2022, when 79% of its flights did so, making it the sixth-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

7. Alaska Airlines

In 2023, 79.5% of Alaska’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 77.3% of its flights did so, which was good for 9th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

6. Envoy Air

In 2023, 80.8% of Envoy’s flights landed on-time. That’s a slight improvement from 2022, when 80.7% of the American Airlines subsidiary’s flights did so, which made it the 4th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

5. PSA Airlines

In 2023, 82.1% of PSA’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 78% of the regional contractor’s flights did so, which was good for 7th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

4. SkyWest Airlines

In 2023, 82.5% of SkyWest’s flights landed on-time. That’s a slight improvement from 2022, when 81.2% of the regional contractor’s flights did so, making it the 3rd-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

3. Delta Air Lines

In 2023, 82.6% of Delta’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 82.5% of its flights did so, which was good for the most on-time carrier in the country that year.

2. Endeavor Air

In 2023, 84.1% of Endeavor’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 80.5% of the Delta Air Lines subsidiary’s flights did so, making it the 5th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.

1. Republic Airways

In 2023, 85.4% of Republic’s flights landed on-time. That’s an improvement from 2022, when 76.4% of the regional contractor’s flights did so, making it the 10th-most on-time carrier in the country that year.
