That’s why CR created a list of the most reliable SUVS currently on the market in 2026.

These SUVs have all been tested by CR’s experts and come recommended by its community members, who collectively own and report back on more than 330,000 vehicles.

The Passport costs between $44,750 to $53,650 and returns about 21 mpg overall with standard all-wheel drive. CR said it offers a comfortable ride, simple and user-friendly controls, generous cargo space, and a roomy back seat, making it a capable and practical midsize SUV.

Priced between $46,275 to $66,825, the Lexus RX averages roughly 23 mpg and focuses on comfort and refinement. Its quiet cabin, plush seating, and solid ride quality make it a dependable luxury option, especially for everyday driving, according to CR.

Spanning roughly $34,300 to $57,275, the Toyota $TM Highlander lineup — including the standard Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Grand Highlander, and Grand Highlander Hybrid — offers options for nearly every need. Fuel economy ranges from about the low-20s in non-hybrid versions to the mid-30s with hybrid powertrains, and all deliver a comfortable ride, sensible handling, and seating for up to eight, according to CR.
