The mid-sized SUVs with the most cargo space, according to Consumer Reports

SUVs are getting bigger and bigger, but how does their trunk space hold up?

To find out, Consumer Reports created a list of mid-sized SUVs it tested that have the most cargo space. These vehicles, especially with the back seats down, should give you plenty of room to lug your Facebook $META Marketplace finds home, fit all your luggage for a long trip, or fill to the brim after a Costco $COST run.

Starting around $45,000, the Passport leads all two-row models with 47 cu. ft. of cargo space — and the floor sits at a height that makes loading heavy items easy on your back.

From $42,250, the CX-70 punches above its two-row status with 42 cu. ft. of cargo room once the seats are folded — an impressive amount considering its size.

Prices start at $36,035 and the four-door version opens up 41.5 cu. ft. of cargo space with the rear seats down.

Starting at $33,000, the Bronco offers 40 cu. ft. of storage, though its side-hinged tailgate makes loading clumsier than most, especially if you’re pulled over on the street and not in a driveway.

From $38,300, the Cross Sport offers 37.5 cu. ft. spread across a conveniently flat, obstacle-free cargo floor.

Starting at $38,920, the Grand Cherokee yields 36 cu. ft. with seats folded, with a tall load floor that makes sliding items in and out simple. It does have a bit of a slope to it, though.

Priced from $41,670, the Murano's 36 cu. ft. is respectable — but puzzlingly trails the smaller Nissan Rogue on cargo space.

From $40,800, the three-row Traverse tops this entire list at 52.5 cu. ft., helped along by a wide, square hatch that makes loading straightforward.

Starting at $43,800, a recent redesign brought the three-row Acadia up to 50.5 cu. ft. with all seats folded. The floor is at a good height for loading.

From $39,310, the three-row Atlas delivers over 50 cu. ft. of cargo room and, unusually, a third-row that adults can actually use comfortably.

Starting at $38,225, the Grand Highlander's extra length pays off with 48.5 cu. ft. — about nine more than the standard Highlander.

At $69,575 to start, the R1S brings 48.5 cu. ft. of cargo space plus a front trunk, all powered by a battery with up to 400 miles of range.
