HOUSTON (AP) — HOUSTON (AP) — Coterra Energy Inc. (CTRA) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $416 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had net income of 55 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 52 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 56 cents per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $1.6 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.54 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.63 billion, or $2.14 per share. Revenue was reported as $5.91 billion.
