ChatGPT is changing how developers workāand they like it
ChatGPT may be, at least metaphorically, in its āgiant room-size machine phaseāāthink big 1950s computers that could only do a small set of tasksābut there is one group of workers that are leading the charge on using the chatbot everyday: software developers.
Developers are prompting ChatGPT to generate code, saving themselves anywhere from minutes to hours a day on writing, or to find information faster than using traditional online search methods. Sure, there are still hallucinations and limitations, but the biggest reward seems to be, well, time.
Quartzās Michelle Cheng spoke with software developers about their daily uses for ChatGPT, and how chatbots have changed their jobsāoften for the better.
