RESTON, Va. (AP) — RESTON, Va. (AP) — General Dynamics Corp. (GD) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $836 million.

The Reston, Virginia-based company said it had net income of $3.04 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.87 per share.

The defense contractor posted revenue of $10.57 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $9.94 billion.
