In numbers: Narendra Modi’s speech at the US Congress

Narendra Modi has endeared himself to the US Congress like no other Indian leader in a long time.

On June 8, the 65-year-old became the sixth Indian prime minister to address the US Congress. Most parts of his speech were devoted to the growing partnership between India and the US and curbing terrorism. He evoked several cheers and nine standing ovations from the lawmakers, one of whom was even spotted wearing a jacket similar to Modi’s.

In all, the Congressmen applauded Modi 64 times, The Indian Express reported. Modi used the word “partnership” 13 times in his speech, it said.
