Millions of cars were recalled this year. But software and mechanical issues hit these seven brands particularly hard

This year’s wave of recalls hit millions of cars, creating about as many frustrated owners in the process. But some car brands faced more issues than others.

Using data from BizzyCar, a recall management platform, we compiled a list of the automakers with the most recalls in 2025 (this data only includes the first three quarters of the year).

Tesla $TSLA recalled 662,036 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar, including nearly every Cybertruck. Tesla owners have been plagued by recalls for years.

Kia recalled 726,708 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar, including more than a quarter-million K5s that had a fuel tank defect.

Honda $HMC recalled 891,653 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar, including more than a quarter-million Accord Hybrids made between 2023 and 2025 with a software defect that could lead to crashes.

General Motors $GM recalled 967,380 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar. The recalls included Cadillac Escalades; Chevrolet Silverados, Suburbans, and Tahoes; and GMC Sierras and Yukons.

#3: Stellantis

Stellantis $STLA recalled 1,439,074 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar. The recalls included hundreds of thousands of Jeep Wranglers and Chrysler Pacificas.

Toyota $TM recalled 1,446,500 vehicles in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar. Many of the recalls were due to a software issue involving backup parking assistance cameras, and included Lexus vehicles, too.

Ford $F had more recalls than all the other brands on the list combined, reporting issues with 9,420,920 in the first three quarters of 2025, according to BizzyCar. The recalls were for everything from rollaway risk to backup-camera and rear-view-mirror issues. It also included Lincoln and Mustang vehicles.
