That dreaded stain of red wine on your table: Everyone has dealt with it, but what if you didn’t have to?

Daniel Perlman, a Brandeis University biophysicist, spent three years studying wine pouring—in slow motion—out of a bottle. That helped him come up with a surprisingly simple solution to completely eliminate drips: Add a 1 millimeter-wide incision just below the lip of the bottle, and any drips will fall directly into the glass below it.
