The 10 cities with the most women breadwinners in America

Women outearn men at the highest rates in these 10 cities, according to a recent LendingTree survey

About one in four women in relationships with men outearn their partners, according to new data from LendingTree.

The study, which took information available from the 100 largest metro areas, also found that for 24% of couples in straight relationships, income differences create frequent or very frequent difficulties. “Men are more likely to report tension very often or often than women,” LendingTree said.

The main source of tension, according to women, is spending and savings style conflicts, while men say the biggest source is expectations around who pays for what.

Last year, "women earned an average of 85% of what men earned," per a March Pew Research report.

LendingTree found that when women do outearn their male partners, they have “significantly higher average earnings than their male counterparts.”

But where are the most women outearning men? LendingTree ranked the 10 cities with the highest share of women breadwinners. Continue reading to see which ones made the list.
