Subway is giving customers a chance to win a bread oven

The sandwich chain is giving four winners a giant new appliance — or $10,000 cash

If you've ever walked by any Subway location, you know the smell.

Wafting from the front door is the unique scent of baking bread. It's one of the chain's most effective marketing tools, drawing in customers who weren't even considering a sandwich originally. Now, for the first time, the chain is giving its customers a chance to win one of those bread ovens.

Four customers, in fact, will have a chance to own the same oven that makes the store's signature breads. Just be sure you've got a kitchen that can handle it: The Subway bread oven is six feet tall and weighs approximately 800 lbs.

Don't have the room for such a monstrosity or live in a walk-up apartment? No problem, you can opt for a $10,000 payout instead.

The promotion is part of Subway's reintroduction of its Sub Club loyalty program. And even if you don't win a free giant oven, you will get every fourth footlong sandwich free as a member. (MVP Rewards members will automatically be converted to the new program.)

To get the oven, you'll have to sign up for the club and redeem your first free footlong by Dec. 10. After that, you can visit SubClubBreadwinner.com to enter the contest for the oven-slash-cash payout.

It's been 20 years since Subway last ran its Sub Club loyalty program. The OG Sub club was discontinued because too many customers used counterfeit stamps to earn free food, cutting into the chain's profits. In the years since, however, Subway has lost some of the magic it had during its $5 footlong offer.

The company got new owners in 2023 (and a new CEO in 2024), who have been working on a turnaround for the chain. Other changes have included the launch of the snack-friendly Sidekicks menu and store redesigns.
